54km. Total 532k
Today should have been easy and started out so well.
It rained overnight so packed up wet tent and headed into town looking for breakfast. Too early for anything to be open, so headed onto the next town - over the border into Czech. But we still didn't have any Czech money.
We found a lovely cafe for breakfast and a group of Czech guys who we'd met at the campsite last night also turned up. Zoom in closely and you'll see them drinking beer for breakfast!!
When we went to pay, the cafe didn't take credit cards and we had no cash. Our Czech bike riders ended up helping out by paying for our meal.
Then about 10km down the road, this lovely couple invited us in for coffee. This is a big mtb riding area and they run an accommodation place.
Headed up the road from their place, and all was looking good - nice gentle climb.
But then we got to an intersection where the Garmin said turn left. A bike rider there told us 'no way' and it turned out he was right.
20% climbing at times. Me carry the rear panniers and Dermot pushing the bikes - leapfrogging our way up! About 2 hours later, we came out onto a road and met another group of mtb riders.
Our Garmin said turn right, but this time we listened to the locals who told us to turn left - mistake again. We couldn't believe it when we road past where we'd been hours before.
At this stage, we still didn't have any money and it was late in the day, so we thought we'd better head to the nearest ATM about 20km away.
Then our luck returned and we rode passed a really nice hotel that could take credit cards. A swim in the lake, shower and meal. Yeah!!!.
