Our 2 weeks in Stockholm with Tommy, Linn and their tin lids at the start was lovely introduction as to how another nation on the other side of the world works in 2019. thank you again Tommy & Linn. Different nations but then again the same. I think Sweden was about the first country to develop a decent social democracy and it is still very evident today in many aspects. The most tangible of these aspects for us as cyclists is the very, very calm and respectful traffic environment.
Sweden I love your drivers........
Tommy & Jeanette on the way back from an mtb ride at Hacksta in Osteraker near Stockholm.
Along with a few mtb rides on the local trails, a couple of trips to the city of Stockholm, some gravel day tours we did about 450kms in Sweden. Our departure tour started Borensberg on the Gotta canal to the ferry from Karlskronar. Our Garmin navigation devices kept us 99% of the time on really quiet roads.
For this late spring we rode in sunny days where we were back to shorts & one layer on top. We spent a whole day of 86 km riding into a blockhead of 35 km per hour. That's a hard day on touring bikes that are far from aerodynamic. We had a day of light rain but that day does not seem to muddy the memories of the joy of riding through a tranquil rural environment.
Oh yes did I mention the snake wiggling its way across the road right in front of us???
Surely southern Sweden/Scandinavia was made for bicycle touring!!!!
